Last year in Brisbane our friends and family managed to raise nearly $2,500 towards research for Melanoma, in honour of my mum Diane. After years of skin checkups, embarrassing rashies and fights over wearing a hat outside Mum lost her battle with Melanoma after in September 2017.
Just weeks after the first symptoms showed Mum had part of her lung removed and the diagnosis was made, Metastatic Melanoma. She started Immunotherapy in addition to this and the outlook for the next few years was positive. Just a few months later after three treatments Mum was admitted in hospital for the last time. This whole process was only six months. Melanoma is an aggressive cancer that grows and spreads extremely fast. My family and I will be fundraising and participating in the Melanoma Institute walk again this year to raise much needed funds to continue research.
This year we are going to head to the Sunshine Coast march on Sunday 31st March. Any donations to this page will be going to a great cause - but I would love even more if you could join me on this afternoon! You can register and join my team through https://mm2019-sunshinecoast.gofundraise.com.au/
Registration is $25 and this goes towards melanoma research. Come and enjoy the afternoon walk on the coast and a free glass of Sav on me (Marlborough NZ of course). If you can't make it on the day but would still like to get involved you can click 'Donate Now' to make a secure online donation.
